This track is recommended for experienced 4 x 4 drivers only. This very steep, narrow and challenging 4WD track really highlights that getting there is an adventure in itself. Amalia Gorge is best seen after the wet season when a mass of waterfalls flow from one pool to the next. In the dry season it is a fairly easy walk, however, there is rock scrambling and ledge hopping involved requiring a reasonable leven of fitness and good balance. Amalia Gorge is more of a steep sided valley than a gorge. The trail leads to a waterfall and a beautiful pool half way and yet another pool at the top.
