The Station is the central hub of El Questro Wilderness Park, offering two types of accommodation.
Our air conditioned Bungalows overlook the Pentecost River and are ideal for couples or a family holiday in the Kimberley. Choose to camp close to the heart of the Station facilities or one of our 25 secluded private campsites for a unforgettable camping experience in western Australia.
On the banks of the Pentecost River, sprawling evergreen station lawns provide contrast to the surrounding landscape. It's a great place for a real family holiday, kids can run around and explore the wide open spaces and see the kind of wildlife you just don't get in the city. Relax on the riverbank, swim in the tranquil swimming hole and in the evenings enjoy the best freshly made cuisine at the Steakhouse restaurant.
Please note: The Station is currently closed for the season and will be open again in 2012 from 30th March- 31st October
** 20 October 2011: El Questro Wilderness Park is saddened to relate to you the sudden passing of Mr Buddy Tyson. After a brief battle with illness, Buddy passed away late on Wednesday evening at Kununurra Hospital of a cardiac arrest.
Buddy Tyson was the essence of El Questro, with the engaging smile of a lovable rogue catching the attention of many staff and guests during his 20 plus year stint on the property. His storytelling was the stuff of legends, only matched by his love of being with the people who surrounded him.
Of all the quotable quotes that rolled off his tongue maybe he should be best remembered as saying “That the most precious gift in life, is life itself” and he sure squeezed a lot out of his.
He was famous for holding court at “Buddy’s Rest” reliving life as a bushman or from the rodeo circuit as a competitor and a rodeo clown. True to form he never let a bit of poetic license get in the way of a good yarn although he was a great student of Australia’s outback history.
Buddy was a generous man with his time, both at work and at play, and he touched the lives of thoudands of people who visited El Questro, many just to see him! El Questro will never be able to replace a man of the stature of Buddy Tyson, but will forever be indebted to the role he played on this property.
One thing is for certain about EL Questro and life after Buddy Tyson, forever it will be “no never the same”.
Vale Buddy Tyson
1942 – 2011.
